Microsoft Windows XP Professional kependekan dari Microsoft Windows Experience Professional merupakan sistem operasi berbasis grafis (gambar) dengan berbagai fasilitas, dan kemudahan dalam pengoperasiannya.Microsoft Windows XP ini merupakan salah satu produk unggulan dari Microsoft Corporation yang secara resmi dikeluarkan pada tanggal 25 Oktober 2001. Microsoft Windows XP yang selanjutnya yang disingkat dengan Windows XP ini merupakan kelanjutan dari dari Windows versi sebelumnya dengan berbagai fasilitas yang ada didalamnya, baik merupakan fasilitas penyempurnaan maupun fasilitas terbaru yang tidak ada pada versi sebelumnya. Dengan Windows XP ini anda akan dipermudah dalam penggunaannya, lebih menyenangkan, lebih cepat, kompatibel dengan berbagai perangkat lunak (software) maupun perangkat keras (hardware). Hal inilah yang menyebabkan semakin banyak pengguna sistem operasi Windows XP ini dalam masyarakat.

Banyak perubahan yang terjadi dalam system operasi Microsoft Windows XP ini, mulai dari masalah registrasi,kelengkapan driver, peningkatan performance, design interface baru, Internet Explorer dengan versi terbaru yang mengarahkan orientasi user dalam penggunaannya, sampai sesuatu yang belum pernah diterapkan pada Microsoft Windows generasi-generasi sebelumnya, yaitu Firewall.

1. REGISTRASI

Dalam hal masalah registrasi, Microsoft Windows XP telah mengimplementasikan Windows Product Activation (WPA) dalam sistemnya. Artinya, dalam hal ini Microsoft menginginkan semua informasi tentang penggunanya. Karena dalam hal ini Microsoft memaksa penggunanya untuk melakukan registrasi dan pengguna diberi waktu selama 14 hari untuk melakukan aktivasi. Jika aktivasi ini tidak dilakukan sesuai dengan prosedur yang telah digariskan maka Microsoft Windows XP akan macet dan tidak dapat digunakan lagi.

Yang paling menonjol dalam hal aktivasi ini adalah bahwa pihak Microsoft menyediakan kombinasi dari 35 angka yang terus berubah. Dalam hal ini pengguna harus memasukkan nya ke dalam Activation Mask yang telah disediakan pihak Microsoft. Jika proses ini dapat dilewati maka Microsoft Windows XP akan dapat digunakan kembali.

2. KELENGKAPAN DRIVER

Windows XP dibentuk dengan kompabilitas tinggi terhadap software-software yang ada sekarang. Bahkan Windows XP telah dipersiapkan untuk mendukung program-program berarsitektur Windows generasi sebelumnya seperti Windows 9x/Me/NT/2000. hal ini akan memberikan kemudahan dalam menggunakan software-software lama berarsitektur Windows 9x/Me/NT/2000. Namun demikian banyak juga program yang tidak bekerja dengan baik bahkan tidak mau berjalan karena adanya emulasi yang dipersiapkan oleh Windows XP ini, khususnya untuk software-software yang memiliki driver khusus untuk menjalankannya.

Dari sisi hardware, tidak semua hardware kompatibel dengan sistem Windows XP. Hanya dari sisi multimedia dan kamera digital terdapat perkembangan yang mengembirakan.

3. PERFORMANCE YANG HANDAL

Telah terjadi banyak perubahan dari sisi performance pada Windows XP ini. Penambahan kecepatan pada event-event tertentu, seperti saat booting, yang bahkan kecepatannya bias melampaui kecepatan booting Windows 2000.

Feature terbaru yang tak kalah menariknya adalah bahwa kita dapat melakukan pergantian user (pada Windows generasi sebelumnya, harus menggunakan logoff), tanpa harus menutup aplikasi yang sedang aktif (hal ini tidak berlaku pada logoff), yaitu dengan menggunakan switch user.

Dari sisi tampilan, terdapat desktop gaya baru dari Windows XP yang disebut dengan Luna. Gaya desktop ini berbeda total jika dibandingkan dengan desktop yang dimiliki oleh generasi Windows 9x/Me bahkan Windows 2000. Perhatikan Gambar 1.1 berikut ini.

Desktop Luna tampak lebih atraktif dibandingkan dengan design desktop yang terdapat pada generasi Windows 9x/Me. Bahkan sistem Windows XP memberikan tooltips (gambar 1.2) yang dapat membantu dalam penggunaan Windows XP itu sendiri.

Yang mengalami perubahan secara drastis adalah Start menu. Dari segi ukuran, Start menu pada Windows XP terlihat lebih besar. Dengan susunan icon yang dibagi menjadi 2 (dua) bagian: bagian kiri adalah icon-icon yang dijadikan shortlink bagi aplikasi user yang terakhir dijalankan.

Dari sisi fleksibelitas, Windows XP juga menyediakan menu classic seperti pada generasi Windows sebelumnya, yang diperuntukkan bagi user yang tidak menyukai Luna.

4. FIREWALL

Dari sisi keamanan, baru pertama kali Microsoft Windows memiliki fasilitas firewall, yang dapat digunakan sebagai sistem keamanan data, yang dapat menyaring penggunaan ping, bahkan dapat membuat komputer yang digunakan tak tampak bagi port scanner yang biasa digunakan.

5. SPESIFIKASI MINIMUM

Berikut adalah spesifikasi minimum yang dapat dijadikan sebagai acuan untuk menggunakan Windows XP

Processor : Pentium II 300 MHz

RAM : 128 MB

Hard Disk : 2 GB

Namun demikian dianjurkan untuk menggunakan komputer dengan spesifikasi yang lebih tinggi.

Windows 7 ini memiliki performa yang lebih stabil daripada windows vista. Seven juga lebih responsif dan lebih hemat dalam penggunaan baterei. Meskipun belum ada pernyataan resmi mengenai spesifikasi minimum untuk dapat menggunakan windows 7, namun Steve Sinofsky (apanya steve balmer ya..) menyatakan windows 7 hanya membutuhkan alokasi memori minimal 1Gb saja.

Memilih Jaringan Wireless Hanya dengan 1 klik dari system tray

Ini dia salah satu fasilitas yang cukup penting dari windows 7. Langkah yang lebih praktis dalam memilih jaringan wireless. Hayoo ngaku siapa yang selama ini bingung untuk mengkoneksikan laptopnya ke wireless?? Library Akan Mengumpulkan System dengan Type yang sama

Saya pernah mengalami masalah dengan file saya yang berantakan di My Document. Saya bingung mencari sala satu file tugas kuliah yang harus segera dikumpulkan. Terpaksa saya harus mencarinya di semua folder yang ada di my document. Maklum, saya lupa dimana meletakkannya. Nah, masalah ini rupanya juga dipahami oleh pembuat windows 7. IBM PS/2-type mouse and keyboard connectors are both "6-pin mini-DIN"
connectors.  The female connectors are on the computer, the male
connectors are on the mouse and keyboard cables that plug into the

know what it was good for until I got an email from Ravn Gundersen,
who wrote:  "It's used if you want two keyboards to work as one on a
computer.  Possible uses are many, one example would be if you want a
barcode scanner connected to ps/2 together with a keyboard, or a barcode
scanner and a magnetic card reader, etc."  Thanks, Ravn!

Note: the connector is called a 6-pin mini-DIN, and the keyboard and
mouse connector pinout charts above show six pins, but some mice and
keyboards are made with the (male) connector having only four pins
(i.e., with the unconnected pin 2 and pin 6 missing).
